In Annapolis, a closed but uncapped landfill is being modified tocapture methane gas for use as an associated heat source in a nearbybiomass gasification facility. The sale of methane to the biomassfacility will provide a long-term funding stream to the city to supportthe ongoing maintenance, environmental monitoring, and anyenvironmental cleanup required at the landfill.
