DML has focus areas to work on. It has developed from its past experiences and previous engagement with variety of environmental activities in Indonesia since 1983. However, given the complexity of environmental challenges and the historical position of DML who has been known to work more closely with the industries, DML has chosen to work more on urban related issues. This includes cleaner production system, solid waste, water and sanitation, green products, etc — all related to the immediate environmental threat: the global warming and climate change.
